Yu Ming Charter School is an Oakland based charter public school committed to providing an academically rigorous, innovative and comprehensive Mandarin-English bilingual education to students from many racial, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Our 350 K-5 students live in nearly every zip code of Alameda County. We have been fully enrolled with a long waitlist since opening in Fall 2011, and will grow one grade level each year until we are at full-size (450 students, grades K-8). Yu Ming is committed to fostering diversity and developing youth with curiosity, compassion, strong moral character and responsibility to the community and the environment. Yu Ming is the only stand-alone immersion charter school in Alameda County, and the only stand-alone Mandarin immersion public school in the East Bay. 

Responsibilities 

• Under general supervision of the After School Program Coordinator, performs a variety of duties related to supporting K-2 students in Yu Ming’s After School Program 
• Develop age appropriate educational activities and lessons designed to teach youth new skills while helping youth find their passions and interests. 
• Role model for youth Yu Ming’s Core Values 
• Promote a positive work environment and relationships with team members and school. 
• Maintain positive relationships with students, families and school. 
• Create opportunities for youth to experience opportunities to learn how to form close, durable human relationships with peers that support and reinforce healthy behaviors. 
• Be a role model for youth. Make an impact with your actions as well as your words. Guide them towards behaviors that help them to thrive, and away from those that are risky.
