Federal Priorities for the Investing In Innovation (i3) Funding

Post

In October of this year, Secretary Duncan announced the Department’s priorities for competitive grants under the $650 million Investing in Innovation (i3) Fund. The i3 program is a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s (ARRA) $5 billion investment in school reform. I3 grants would be awarded in three categories; Scale-up Grants will focus on scaling up evidence based programs that have had a significant effect on improving student achievement, Validation Grants will fund existing programs of promise that have evidence of impact and will improve their impact and evidence base, and Development Grants will support new and high-potential practices whose impact should be studied further. The priorities outlined by Secretary Duncan can be accessed via a press release on the U.S. Department of Education website. This website also contains a fact sheet on Federal i3 priorities, power point slides. To access these resources, click here.
