In honor of Attendance Awareness month, the Afterschool Alliance has published the resource: Preventing Dropouts: The Important Role of Afterschool which addresses the dropout problem present in schools today and emphasizes the positive impact that afterschool programs play on keeping students in school.Research supports the fact that by focusing on the ABC’s of dropouts — attendance, behavior, and coursework, afterschool programs can lower the dropout rates of schools.In order to mitigate the problem, it is necessary for organizations and policymakers to band together to provide resources to fund afterschool programs.
