Census Toolkit for the Afterschool Community
The Afterschool Alliance released a census toolkit to help the afterschool community to help prepare families and children for the census count in 2020.
The census matters to afterschool programs and the families they serve because the results are used to determine how the government will allocate over $900 billion in federal spending. Title I funding levels, the largest of the eight education programs, are determined by the census results.
Access the toolkit to encourage members of your community, including youth 18 or older, afterschool staff, and parents, to apply to be a paid census takers, educate students families and community members about the importance of the census, and where they can receive help participating (especially given the new opportunity to participate in the census online).
