Youth say they are most engaged when they are given opportunities to learn new skills. The Learning in Afterschool & Summer Project has released an article, Afterschool Learning That Supports Mastery, which highlights learning styles that support mastery.  The article provides afterschool learning activities educators can implement to promote new skill development and mastery.

Additionally, Temescal Associates has created the Youth Development Guide 2.0: Engaging young people in after-school programming to help build this foundation for students. This guide is designed to offer an introduction to youth development principles and practices for those involved in creating and implementing afterschool programs.
