Happy Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week
You are appreciated, and we want to hear your story!

E-mail blast

Happy Afterschool Professionals Appreciation Week. I want you to know that we are with you and here for you at this very unique time. Some of this looks like providing up-to-the minute information through our COVID-19 resource center including regular “fireside chats” with Michael Funk, Director of the California Department of Education’s Expanded Learning Division (watch out for a new one coming out tomorrow) so that you can hear directly from state leadership as things rapidly develop.

I want to thank you for being you. What has remained constant is that safe, trusting relationships create the context for learning, development, and success. You have remained focused on the children, youth, and families you serve as humans. Thank you for all you are doing to create small moments of joy and connection in their lives.

I have been so heartened to see all the ways you continue to step up.  Many of you are part of a critical infrastructure to provide nutrition supports, academic supports, are providing virtual programs, and providing services for children and youth of essential workers. You are part of California’s crisis response, you remain a critical support to families, and you will be an important part of California’s recovery.

We want to lift up your stories! CAN is here to lift up your stories and communicate them broadly so that all of California will know how important you are now and in the new future. I hope you will help us amplify your voice and shine a light on how important you are by taking the time to share your stories.

With love and gratitude for all you do. We appreciate you!

Jeff Davis and the CAN Team
