Call for Readers – 21st CCLC and ASSET’s Programs

The California Department of Education (CDE) will be conducting competitions for 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) and 21st Century High School After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) after school funds beginning this fall. To support this effort the CDE is now seeking 21st Century Content Review Experts.
 
The 21st Century grant application Content Review Experts should have expertise in providing effective academic, enrichment, youth development, and related services to children. The CDE will select Content Review Experts based on their professional and personal experience as it relates to the goal, purpose, and needs of the 21st CCLC and ASSETs Programs. Content Review Expert applicants will not be selected if they are a 21st Century grant applicant, or representative of a grant applicant, that has submitted an application for the current application period.Potential Content Review Experts must also certify that neither they, nor any member of their immediate family has a material, personal or financial relationship in any application under consideration by the 21st CCLC and/or ASSETs for this application period.

Content Review Experts must be available to attend the program quality calibration training to be held in Sacramento on January 13th 2017. After the calibration training, applications to be read will be made available to selected Content Review Experts to review during January and February through the online Financial Assistance Application Submittal Tool (FAAST). To participate in the FAAST evaluation process, each reviewer must have a computer with Microsoft Word and email access.

The CDE will pay a stipend for the Content Review Experts participating in the 2017 21st Century RFA application review process, at a rate for $100 per application, not to exceed 15 applications. Any travel required for the calibration training will be reimbursed at the allowed state travel rates.
 
Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis but preference will be given to applications that are submitted by October 24, 2016.
