Senior Specialist – Equity & Quality

The Senior Specialists primary responsibility, under the supervision of CAN’s Director of Equity and Quality, will be to support a new and innovative cross-sector initiative to advance school-based mental health in Expanded Learning settings. The Senior Specialist will support diverse local collaboratives as they seek to implement school-based mental health efforts sustained through the CYBHI Statewide Multi-Payer Fee Schedule.

The Senior Specialist will also lead the development of communication materials and dissemination. The Senior Specialist will also broadly support CAN’s efforts as a catalyst for quality and vehicle for advocacy.

A successful candidate will possess the qualifications and skills necessary to manage their assigned projects including extensive facilitation and design competencies, ability to manage event and convening logistics, coalition building and relationship development capacities, communication and outreach competencies, and ability to oversee committees/work groups and their processes and products.

  • Work closely with the CAN Team and statewide Expanded Learning and Out of School Time (OST) interest holders, and practitioners to co-develop, lead, and support multi-faceted, multi-sector initiatives and events (statewide, regionally, and locally).
  • Utilize various design thinking, strategic design and/or planning, and liberatory design practices, strategies, and protocols to support the strategic capacity-building efforts to support implementation and sustainability of School Based Mental Health Supports in Expanded Learning programs.
  • Oversee, manage, organize, and implement capacity building efforts that include, but is not limited to,  trainings, coaching, webinars, or communities of practice, within the local implementation sites and cross-regional and/or statewide partners  that may be hosted virtually, in-person, or in a hybrid format.
  • Organize, lead, and facilitate meetings, committees, and/or communities of practice composed of interest holders and practitioners including funders, Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative, or (CYBHI) Leadership, County Office of Education and School District Leadership, higher education leadership, non-profit and CBO Leadership, Expanded Learning/OST program staff, and others.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) + years of relevant experience with relationship building, project management, outreach, training design, implementation, and facilitation.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working in the Out-of-School Time/Expanded Learning field, including established statewide relationships and partnerships. Demonstrated respect for and ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams etc.), Google Platforms (Drive, Docs, Slides, Jamboard, etc.), Project Management software (Asana), and Zoom/virtual meeting platforms.

  • Ability and commitment to collaborate with staff, interest holders, and other volunteers.

Location – Remote/California

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, with additional hours as needed to address the organization’s needs. This is a California-based position, with the flexibility to work remotely (in California) or in person at our Sacramento office. This position will require travel for trainings, meetings, conferences, and to perform other essential functions of the job.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $70,000- $95,000, and the anticipated starting salary is $75,000. Your final salary compensation will be determined based on skills, education, and/or experience. Additionally, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. The range mentioned above is the full salary range for the role. Hiring above $75,000 is unlikely to ensure pay equity and allow for future and continued salary growth.

Limited Term: This is a limited-term position, currently funded for 2 years. Depending on funding, there may be an opportunity for a permanent position in the future.
