Defining Equity Committee Releases Final Reccomendations

Post

The Defining Equity Committee is part of the California Department of Education After School Division (CDE-ASD) Strategic Plan implementation. The committee released their final report focusing on defining equity in grant eligibility and award distribution for state ASES and federal 21st CCLC programs. The report contains recommendations regarding eligibility for dual (ASES and 21st Century) funding, distribution of funds based on student Free and Reduced Priced Meal (FRPM) eligibility, as well as recommendations to prioritize 21st Century applicants that involve community partners, propose summer learning, and are renewing previous funding. Implementing the recommendations would require changes to existing education code. Before moving forward with such changes the CDE-ASD would seek further public input.
