Final Logistics: CAN March 5th Leadership Team Meeting
Preliminary logistics and preparation

Post

Hello CAN Leaders,

We are looking forward to our upcoming Leadership Team meeting with the logistics below. We will be assessing our current environmental landscape, and with that in mind informing our future work with CDE and the Mott Foundation. Lots to sink our teeth into.

Additionally, please see the consent vote requiring your attention below. I have also included some timely policy actions you can take the week of March 5th to increase and preserve state and federal after school funding.

An important approval from the Leadership Development Committee

The Leadership Development Committee met recently to discuss potential Leadership Team member recruitment in the coming year. As you are all keenly aware based on your thorough review of CAN’s Governance document, CAN maintains a Leadership Team of no less than 16 and no more than 20 Leaders. All current Leadership Team members who are terming off have opted for the option to continue on as CAN Leaders. As such, CAN’s current Leadership Team will consist of 19 members. Instead of releasing an application to fill one position, the Leadership Development Committee has opted to address issues related to Co-chair transition and focus on the release of an application next January. In conversation with the Leadership Team Co-chairs, they suggest that the full Leadership Team vet this decision via a consensus vote.

Please offer your consent vote by Friday March 2nd.

Timely Policy Actions

Included in your Leadership Team packet (page 13) are a detailed summary of CAN’s policy actions for the year along with some more immediate policy actions. Should you feel inspired, we invite you to:

  • Write a letter of support of an ASES increase to the Assembly Budget Sub-Committee on Education by March 7th. Learn more.
  • Sign on to preserve 21st CCLC funding by March 9th. Learn more.

Looking forward to a productive meeting.

Jeff
