January 10, 2025

State Department of Finance CA for all Kids Milestones breakdown

This year, the governor’s budget proposal continued to show his dedication to prioritizing education and our expanded learning field, even in difficult times. Last year, we had a tough budget year, and we expected the same for this year. However, it looks like the budget is balanced, thanks to all the fund maneuvering and higher-than-expected tax revenues. This, however, is the very beginning of the legislative season, and this budget will change and transform as we go through our legislative process.

Impacts on Expanded Learning

You can view the budget summary here refer to pages 17-18.

  • In this year’s budget summary, the governor is proposing a $435 million increase to ELO-P, which results in total ongoing program funding to $4.4 billion.
  • The budget summary also includes serving LEA’s with 55% of unduplicated pupils instead of 75%.

What happens now?

Now we wait until the budget trailer bills are released to get more details on how these proposed changes will impact implementation.
