See you at NAA24 convention

Along with the co-presenting workshops, Nat Rosales, one of our Specialists for Policy & Outreach, will share a story showcase on the main stage during one of the General Sessions! Nat is a force you don’t want to miss!

Below is a list of the workshops we will co-facilitate with colleagues:

Power of Partnerships: A Story of Two Moving as One

Collective Impact with a practical application -The California Afterschool Network & ASAPconnect were able to come together as two partner organizations with a similar mission to leverage and maximize resources that would help provide sustainable strategies for both organizations. Both organizations are statewide technical assistance intermediaries for the state of California in partnership with the California Department of Education. This session will provide tips to work intentionally with your partners to achieve both partners’ goals and increase visibility, opportunity and possibility!

Physical Health & Wellness: Start with a Day of Play

As an organization, CAN has expanded to a Whole Child Health and Wellness umbrella. Physical Health and Wellness is one component of that umbrella. Participants will learn how CAN leveraged partnerships with Mentor California, Positive Coaching Alliance, Sacramento Junior Kings, and local CBOs and Parks and Recreation departments to redefine and create a different paradigm for coaching, youth, and family engagement through place-based activities in the communities where families live. Participants will then create their own plan to participate in the National Day of Play on June 24, 2024

CAN’s Journey to Equity, Not What BUT Why and How

The California AfterSchool Network team will share stories on the different incidents, partners, and team members that helped the organization shift not only its foundational beliefs but also how it embodies those beliefs in its day-to-day operations and larger organizational strategies. The team will also share the newest resource that promotes an equitable approach to quality and continuous quality improvement.

Cultivating Site Level Leadership: From Advocacy to Action

Site Coordinators are the heart of the work in Out of School Time Opportunities. This community conversation will be a chance to connect and cultivate ideas to move beyond keeping site coordinators in our conversations so they are grounded in our actions. It will offer participants an opportunity to ask this circle of wisdom about challenges they are currently unpacking & plant seeds for the path forward. In this facilitated experience, participants will go on a journey to leverage the collective to power their ideas/strategies they can take back to inform and support their work.

Amplify, Engage, and Strengthen Partnerships to Support Positive Youth Development

In the day-to-day of programming, budgeting, and planning, partnerships that potentially could amplify the impact in the communities we serve often go unrecognized. Partners that communicate and intentionally collaborate use the power of relationships to bolster protective factors, fostering resilience in the children we work with. This session will help you learn to create, strengthen, and maintain partnerships that support positive youth development across sectors. Participants will come away with the start of an Action Plan for Partnerships that will help identify existing connections and potential partners to create a web to support for the children and families served.
