Investing in Summer Programs

Summer programs can be an effective way to address students’ educational, social, and physical needs. The RAND Corporation has released the report, Investing in Successful Summer Programs, which demonstrates the pathway for mastering successful summer learning practices. These practices are also in alignment with the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requirements.

This report is intended to provide practitioners, policymakers, and funders current information about the effectiveness of summer programs designed for children and youth entering grades K–12. The report outlines key findings and recommendations, allowing practitioners to assess whether their program might be a good fit for the children and youth they want to serve.
