#LightsOnAfterschool is right around the corner! Join the largest nationwide celebration for afterschool and summer learning programs on Oct. 24, 2024! Lights On Afterschool is the biggest day of the year for afterschool programs to make a splash online, get trending, and reach new audiences about their impact. We’re proud to join communities in celebration!
To learn more about Lights On Afterschool, register an event, access event planning tools, or find out what’s happening in your area, visit afterschoolalliance.org. Those who register will have their events promoted to the media and the public by the Afterschool Alliance. Lights On Afterschool is a project of the Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit public awareness and advocacy organization working to ensure that all children and youth have access to quality afterschool programs.

Late last month, Troy Selvey, Manager for Equity & Quality, and Lupita Perez, Senior Specialist for Equity & Quality traveled to South Carolina for the Riley Institute at Furman University’s 2024-25 White-Riley-Peterson Policy Fellowship.
The WRP Policy Fellowship equips participants with a real-world understanding of the art, science, possibilities, and realities of policy-making around afterschool and expanded learning. Over the course of the week, Lupita (2024 Fellow) strategized with driven and dedicated fellows from across the country, supported by past cohorts.

FY 2025-26 School Site Substitutions
Due February 15, 2025
The California Department of Education (CDE), Expanded Learning Division, is providing the following guidance on school site substitutions for the fiscal year (FY) 2025–26. This guidance may be updated annually and should be responded to accordingly. Grantees should note there is a single filing date of February 15, 2025 that must be adhered to. An approved school site substitution will be effective July 1, 2025. Grantees should refer to their board or governing entity regarding school closures for FY 2025–26.

ELO-P Expenditure Report Deadline – October 31, 2024
AB 176 - Time-Sensitive Update
ELO-P Expenditure Report Deadline
AB-176 Education finance: education omnibus budget trailer bill has been signed by the governor. This means that this bill is put into effect immediately. This trailer bill outlines the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) changes, including Expenditure Report Deadlines.
For the 2021-22 and 2022-23 FYs, local educational agencies (LEAs) are required to submit an expenditure report to the CDE after the September 30, 2024 expenditure deadline.
The report is due October 31, 2024.
A local educational agency that does not submit the final expenditure report shall forfeit all funds allocated for the 2021–22 and 2022–23 FYs.
